Is my girlfriend pregnant?
1. My girlfriend and I had unprotected sex about a month ago. She said she took the birth control pill the day before and the day that we had unprotected sex and then she stopped taking it. Her period was due a week ago. I got her a pregnancy test and it was negative. Do you think she can still be pregnant? Or do you think its the birth control that has delayed her periods. She has been on birth control on and off with me for the past 3 months. She told me the only times she was late is only a day or two. She was never this late before. What do you think?

Secret affair of wife
1. I am a middle-aged man in my 40s. Most of the time, I lived in foreign countries and could give a little time to my wife. I had relationships with a couple of girls time to time. But I haven't informed my wife about it. Now I am planning to settle in India with my wife. I was just wondering if my wife also had relationships outside our marriage. Your suspicions are based on your own example - exemplary history of licentious behaviour. Do you really believe that all others are as indisciplined as you are. Let the past be buried - whatever it was for both of you and give your best to your married life, a chance with love, care and trust at least from your side.

'Young wife not happy with me'
2. I am a 42-year-old man married to a 26-year-old girl. I run a shop of my own and am happy with my business. After the death of my first wife, I was single for around 10 years. Then one of my relatives arranged for the match and I accepted it as I was feeling terribly lonely. My new wife although does not seem happy. It appears she was not informed about my age. She talks to me but turns down all my sexual advances. What should I do?

Reply From Dr. Prem Lata Chawla: You have really created a problem for both of you by agreeing to marry a woman half your age. How come you got married to her without meeting her? Loneliness is no excuse for blindly agreeing to a match suggested by relatives. I really cannot figure out the motive of these very helpful relatives. Your young bride certainly cannot be persuaded to have sex with you. No amount of counseling is going to help. Of course you will have to win her over by trying to understand her and for that you will have to take care of her lovingly (not grudgingly) and talk to her endlessly. You can even bring up the subject of her remarriage in your endless chatter provided you are ready to give her away like a father (after a legal divorce).
