I don’t need a rakhi, says Rakhi Sawant

My name is Rakhi Sawant,” Rakhi thunders. “I don’t need to tie a rakhi.” Umm, aren't there wolves in the jungle she needs to be protected against? “I don’t need to be protected by anyone. I am enough. I can protect myself,” says the item girl-turned-talk show host, who has wised up to the ways of the world: “Waise bhi jab zaroorat padi to koi nahin aaya. Experience has taught me not to trust anyone.”

Rakhi confesses that she is most comfortable with those who do not want any rakhi-relationship with her. “What’s the point of making sisters and brothers?” she asks, firm in her belief that you cannot make anyone a brother just by tying a thread around their wrist.

In fact, the dusky siren will spend the entire day today shooting. Besides that, she’ll be doing an item number at an awards function later in the evening.

However, don’t mistake this Pardesiya girl to be some bhaiyya-less babe. Rakhi does have a bhai. “I’ve only one brother, Rakesh, and I see him only on raksha bandhan.”

Why only on raksha bandhan? “Bas I have said na,” she answers in her trademark style. Er, any yaadgar gift she got from brother dear on any raksha bandhan? “That he got married, had two kids and made me a bua was the greatest gift for me,” she says. (Take that — Rakhi bua!)

What if mard-log besiege Rakhi in some lonely corner wanting her to tie them rakhis?

“I would say to such men — if there are any — that making me a behen would mean a lot of zimmedari. Are they ready for such a huge responsibility?”
