This is my first trip to India and I have been here for a month now. I’ve been a model for two years now, doing quite a few modelling assignments back home in Belgium. Fashion Week practice was hectic but I liked it all.
The whole wardrobe malfunction was quite embarrassing. It’s not my fault, you know. I called up my mother after the show, I told her about the whole thing and she was like, ‘Oh no, what happened now? What did you do?’ and then she started laughing.
But she was upset because she knows it’s quite conservative here. Back home, it’s no big deal and it is not unusual, but here, people think it’s horrible. So that became embarrassing. As for my dad, he was like, ‘Okayyy (sic)… I saw the newspapers and all’.
I miss my boyfriend, Mehdi. I want him to come, but I know it’s going to take a while. After the episode he said, ‘Okay. It happens, can’t do anything about it.’ He said, ‘I am just not watching the pictures.’ But now he is cool about it. My family was very supportive. I am okay with it now.
Now we laugh about it and we crack jokes. It’s no big deal. I didn’t give a lot of interviews. I remember after the incident when I went to the washroom there were these TV channel people who just put the microphone and the camera on my face, I was helpless. I felt bad.
But my fellow models were very good and supportive. I have also made friends with Himani (a model) who is from Mumbai. I don’t know her full name. I like the Indian dresses and the embroidery. I also like saris.
I haven’t watched any Hindi movie but I am looking forward to watching a few. And people have told me that Indian actors act so well that I wouldn’t need subtitles to understand.
I read about Bollywood in newspapers but I only know Shilpa Shetty. I can speak Dutch, French and English. And I only know two words in Hindi — chalo, bas.
