Police were alerted after a 39-year-old woman sent two passionate love letters and a parcel containing objects of an "erotic nature" to French President Nicolas Sarkozy, the website of the weekly Le Point reported Friday.

Security agents of the Elysee Palace decided to contact local police authorities because the parcel was covered with words considered menacing, such as "extremely explosive," "nitro-glycerine" and "anthrax".

The woman identified only as a schoolteacher was interrogated by the police in the northern city of Dunkirk Thursday.

The daily Nord Eclair reported that she broke down in tears during the questioning and said that the menacing words were only meant to attract the attention of the French president, who had not responded to her letters.

She was released and no charges were filed.
