A 23-yr-old man has been arrested for killing his 15-year-old sister by setting her on fire in Chhattisgarh's Dhamtari district, police officials said.

Mayaram Satnami poured kerosene oil on his sister Janki and set her on fire late Saturday at Jodhapur ward in Dhamtari town, some 80 km from state capital Raipur, according to the police.

Satnami was arrested after another sister Kumari Bai, who witnessed the murder, informed the police.

Satnami belongs to a family of labourers.

"He said he killed his sister because she is characterless but he has no proof to substantiate his charges," a police officer told reporters in Dhamtari town Monday.

"It's a cold blooded murder. He has cooked up a false story to justify the killing and has no regrets about what he has done," the officer added.
