Bad guys take it all

How often have women had their hearts broken, been cheated or find themselves giving a lot to get little or nothing in return?

Then you know that they've all fallen for the wrong guys. What is it about bad boys or men who aren't available that's attractive to women?

How many times have they let go of nice guys who would have made great companions, because they're not attracted to them?

Neha, a 29-year-old, says, "I think there's some truth to this. But when a woman wants a real relationship, the game changes. We look for the man who'll be the best father, successful, sensitive, strong, etc. Then it's the nice guy who wins."

Dangerous and fun
Let's check out what's wrong with nice guys. Amisha Gehani, 21, says, "There's an element of danger associated with bad guys.. this is fun. They're also associated with playfulness, sexuality and fun. This makes them an attractive proposition."

"Being with these guys is also very challenging. My boyfriend has a way with women.. he's exciting. And sure enough, he springs a surprise on me then. He's very affectionate at times and does things when I least expect him to."

Many girls feel that they can have their bit of fun with bad guys without worrying about what they'd think. After all, they don't want to spend their lives with these guys."

Sweta Ratra, 28, adds, "Women just don't feel that powerful attraction for nice guys who chase them and dote on them. Women feel that sort of magical emotion only for bad boys. But this doesn't mean they don't enjoy the things that nice guys do for them."

Some women refer to this attraction as chemistry which is powerful enough to break down a woman's defences. Ali Kanchwala, 20, is the regular sweet guy who opens doors, pulls out chairs for women and does the entire chivalrous act. He says, "Women think of me as a brother But I don't want to change myself for a girl. I want her to like me the way I am. I feel charm with a bit of fun works for women.

Chivalrous ways
"But one also has to be slightly macho.. Otherwise women think of you as a pansy I disagree with this thing that women fall for bad guys. I've had two relationships in the past." He disagrees that women fall for bad guys: "They may do so only for a bit of fun. But ultimately a woman wants to take home a good man to her mother So the nice guys are the winners in the long run."

Final say Vikrant Kapoor, 23, agrees with him. He feels it's not about being a bad or a nice guy it's about being true to oneself and not let anyone have power over you. It's also about having confidence in who you are. He's positive that if you do this, you'll be respected and liked for being yourself.
