A hungry girl who had not taken food for the last three days committed suicide after having quarreled with her brother over a plate of rice.
 
The shocking incident took place at Detikar in Gosaiganj area here. The family head Ram Bharose, a poor farmer hardly had enough money to keep himself away from the pains of hunger.
 
Ram Bharose after having not eaten anything for three days bought some rice. His wife cooked it and the two ate some and left the remaining for their two children and went out in search of work.
 
Ram Bharose's 18-year-old daughter Gyanwati had also not eaten anything for the last three days. She returned home after working for sometime in a field as labour but as she was feeling too weak and dizzy due to hunger the farmland owner kicked her out.
 
Ram Bharose gave her a plate of rice and advised her to share it with her 12–year–old brother Chatrapal who had also gone to work at the field with her
 
On reaching home, the 12-year-old hungry kid pounced upon the rice plate. As he was too hungry he refused to share it with his elder sister.

Gyanwati quarreled with Chatrapal. Although the latter was much younger to her, he was able to defeat her and consumed the   little quantity of rice left by their parents.
 
With tears welling in her eyes and uncontrollable pangs of hunger, Gynawati kissed her brother who she loved dearly and then committed suicide by hanging herself.
