Sex and glamour are short-lived: Neha

Actress Neha Dhupia feels the question of revealing or not revealing doesn't bother her as long as she gets good opportunity to display her acting capabilities.

Is it true that you have a very strict instructions from you parents not to do hot roles?
My parents have never interfered in my work ever. They trust me completely. They know what I am doing and have never stopped me from doing any role. Neither they ask me to inquire about my role in a film.

Of late you have been doing non-glamorous and realistic characters. What's the reason behind this shift?
I have realised that sex and glamour are short-lived. What matters for an actress is her acting capabilties. It’s my  conscious decision to go for this image makeover.

"I don't ask my mom if I can wear a bikini or not"

I don’t say that it's bad to be sexy or the image doesn’t sell today. It still works but once an actress is tagged as sexy, her acting capabilities are not used optimally. Apart from beig sexy, I want to be known as a realistic and skilled actress.

Like many actresses, do you seek your parent’s permission before wearing a bold outfit for any film?
I never ask my mother if I should wear a bikini or not. I never ask her how much I should reveal and how much I should cover. I know there are lots of actresses who are dependant on their parents for taking a right decision. But I am mature enough to take my own decision. My parents have taught me values and they are confident that I will never hurt their feelings.

Your film Mityaa was appreciated in Osian's Film Festival. Do you plan to say goodbye to bold roles in future?
I don’t think so. I will play all kind of characters that I like. If I am offered a bold film and I find the script worth and exciting, I would love to do the movie. To reveal or not to reveal doesn’t bother me much.
