A 40-year-old man shot at his mother for refusing him Rs 1 crore in Vile Parle on Tuesday night. Ganesh Bandekar, wanted for murdering his brother-in-law, has been absconding since targeting 62-year-old Vasundhara Bandekar. This is the second time in five days that a person has tried to kill a family member. On Saturday,hotelier Mohan Shetty shot at and wounded his brother Manohar over a property dispute. "Ganesh is very violent," Vasundhara told HT. "We have had no contact with him since he left home 12 years ago. When he left, he had broken a TV set." Vasundhara fears Ganesh will return to kill her and her younger son, Rajesh, to claim the family's 1,100 sq ft home, worth Rs 1.5 crore, in Aparna Apartment at Vile Parle. Ganesh, who drives an autorickshaw for a living, resurfaced in January to claim the house. Vasundhara told him he would get his share after she drafts her will dividing the rights between the two brothers and their two stepsisters. "I do not know why he wanted the money suddenly. He started threatening me for the property," said Vasundhara. Ganesh, who wanted the entire house, decided to kill his family and had murdered one of his brothers-in-law on July 27, the police said. On Tuesday, Ganesh reached the ground-floor flat and demanded Rs 1 crore in cash, said Pradeep Shinde, senior police inspector, Juhu. Vasundhara refused and slammed the door shut. Ganesh went to the building's rear and broke the bedroom window. When Vasundhara came into the bedroom, Ganesh shot at her with a .32 bore country-made revolver. He missed.
